"Four" Tips for Winterizing Your Natural Hair
1. MOISTURIZE...MOISTURIZE...MOISTURIZE.....During the Cold Winter Months, make sure you increase your Deep Conditioning Method, If you Deep Condition once monthly, increase to at least twice a week. This will replenish any lost of moisture during the Rigid Winter Season.
2. PROTECT Your TRESSES.....Yes, It's Cold Outside! But especially during the Extreme Wind, Snow, & Freezing Temps, make sure you cover your hair with a hat, cap or scarf. But Beware!!! Those fashionable knitted hats, caps and scarves, though trendy, also contribute to drying out our strands. Make sure you cover your hair 1st with a Silk or Satin Scarf or Liner.
3.The LOC METHOD......This Method has been proven time & time again in proving "hours" & for some "days" of Intense Moisture for Natural & Curly Hair no matter the Elements of Nature.
use in the order below.....
LIQUID (water is moisture...the issue is retaining moisture from water; and that’s where the other 2 components of the L.O.C. method comes into play.)
OIL (oil increase hair's ability hold on to water molecules; this keeps the hair strong and prevents breakage.)
CREAM (your cream of choice should be moisturizing and seal the oil and water to the hair shaft. be cautious of the word 'cream'; the best option is to use a leave-in cream versus a curling/styling cream. If you have extremely dry hair, use raw shea butter as an effective option. make sure you seal your ends as well, they are the oldest & most fragile part of your hair.)
4. PROTECTIVE STYLE..... This Styling involves putting your hair into a Style that involves tucking your ends away and/or protecting strands from root to tip from the Harsh Winter. Protective Styles are but not limited to Braids, Twists, Corn Rolls, Buns, Flat Twists, etc. Make sure you continue to Moisturize your hair while it's being Protected to eliminate Dryness & Breakage.
